I always wanted to give my dog Dakota the best of everything. We used to
frequent local dog bakeries. Although I thought buying freshly baked dog
treats was the best thing for Dakota, I noticed that he did not seem
interested in the beautifully displayed treats. I began smelling them
and thought they smelled bland. Then it hit me! Dog bakeries don't sell dog treats to dogs...
they sell dog treats to humans! I began to realize that our frequents trips to the dog
bakery were really for me and not for Dakota at all. Dogs don't care what
their treats look like, they only care about how they taste. I took a closer
look at the ingredients and discovered that butter, margarine, shortening
and lard were all commonly used ingredients in the “gourmet” dog treats I
was purchasing for my best friend. I knew that the only way I could provide
healthy, great tasting dog treats for Dakota was to bake them myself!
